Most Japanese people love soba (buckwheat noodles). Hokkaido is famous for producing high quality buckwheat.
Ishikari produces its own soba noodles made with automated machinery, but you can experience soba-making with your own hands in this special class.
Amiche International Inc.
If you have been a long-time fan of Hokkaido, or even if this is your first visit, please take a day to come and see Ishikari. Our various hands-on programs will make your trip even more special and unforgettable.
Our first try at Soba Making
Contributor : Sunny 2019/07/22
Date : Thurs 19th Jun 2019 Time : 10 am – 1 pm I have corresponded with Akemi of Amiche International for a long time, in fact since Aug 2018. I was scheduled to undertake 2 programs by Amiche last Sep when an earthquake struck Sapporo so coincidentally and thwarted my travel plans. This year, I resumed my correspondences with Akemi, and voilà, I finally got to meet Misa and her, who acted as our guides and translators throughout. The soba making lesson was conducted in the city community hall, which is nearby their office. Our lecturers are members of a soba enthusiast club and they patiently taught us the necessary skills, which I dare say we are not good. Some others also prepared tempura to accompany the soba lunch, and of course, we ate the soba that we had made. The soba making was quite easy to follow, and our lecturers helped us whenever necessary, to "correct us". It was very fun being soba chef for half a morning, the lunch was good, and we enjoyed our session very much, amidst the friendliness of the whole group.
