At “Friendly Farm” near Sapporo, you can participate in this special program of making traditional Japanese saba noodles and mochi. Double the fun!!! You will enjoy yourselves immensely when you choose to go to Friendly Farm to learn how to make soba noodles and bean paste filled moichi, all from scratch.
My family and I went to Sato-san's house recently in June 2015. Our hosts were very warm and accommodating to my young kids, and we had a very memorable time. Sato-san is a very patient teacher who always engaged us to try our hand at every possible moment. You get to eat what you make, and Sato-san's family complements the noodles and moichi with great tasting tempura, soup and pickles. He'll also wow you with his apple peeling skills.
Communication with our hosts is fun because everyone is doing their best in learning the English language. We got to know each other better by the time the day was over. Most importantly, my kids enjoyed themselves, and were still talking about it after we left. They learnt that food is not made in supermarkets but with hard work.
We recommend you to try it out. You'll not regret it.
