On this day, my friend and I spent the entire morning making soba and we moved on to the rest of the day's programme, all coordinated by Akemi and Misa of Amiche International.
After our soba lunch, they brought us to visit a honey garden, which was not part of our tour but they included it for free. It was interesting to learn that Japanese are also very keen in traditional medicine therapy for health, and the owner was so kind to answer so many questions.
The weather wasn't too kind to us afterwards and we had to walk in the Ishikari nature park in the rain. We were all dressed up in raincoat, boots or carrying umbrella. I truly admire the Japanese, for they do not show any misgiving but instead continue in good spirit and enthousiasm. We then had a good rest at the cafe sipping hot drinks.
We had been asked before to try an onsen before our izakaya dinner, and we gladly wanted to try, this time at our own expense of course. This onsen is called banya-no-yu, 石狩天然温泉 番屋の湯. The entry fee is 650 yen, and they happen to have an Australian mammal the capybara as attraction. I enjoyed trying all the pools one after the other that my friend got worried and had to get the service personnel to look for me.
Akemi then brought us to a local izakaya, 酒庵升屋, in Ishikari. We were introduced to some local specialities, like the Ishikari broth, omelette and chicken. The owner was also very kind to let my friend enjoy wine and sake, while I was forbidden to drink as I was the driver. The food was really good.
We had a wonderful day with Akemi and Misa and the night dinner was the climax, everything was good and we truly thank Akemi for the experience.
